The CTS-IGERT weekly seminar will take place on Thursday, March 19th at 2:00 pm in SEO 1000. This week, IGERT is honored to have Dr. Eriksson present on the TransitGenie.

Download: TransitGenie Building a context-aware, real-time transit navigator

A version of the ITA is finally becoming reality, under the direction of Dr. Jakob Eriksson. A context-aware, real-time transit navigator, called TransitGenie, is currently under development. TransitGenie will integrate existing transit data (route maps, schedules, and real-time tracking information), with information about each user's current context, to provide real-time navigation support for residents of Chicago. Dr. Eriksson will present the vision of the project, and give a quick demonstration of the current state of the iPhone prototype. Dr. Eriksson joined the UIC CS department in January 2009. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside in 2006, after which he spent two years at MIT CSAIL as a postdoctoral associate. His main research interests are wireless networks and mobile sensing. All welcome.
