Leon is a Fulbright Fellow and a Ph.D. student in the department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). His primary research interests are in mobile sensing, data mining, mobile objects databases, and privacy preservation. He received his MS in Computer Science from the University of Westminster (London UK) and B.S. in Computing from the University of Technology (Jamaica).

He is supervised by Professor Ouri Wolfson and Professor Philip Yu. With the advisers Leon has worked on several projects including, activity recognition from smartphone sensors, parking availability estimation, privacy preservation in mobile location based systems, and social network mining.

His primary area of thesis research is "Detection and Predicting human activities from smartphones and maps". He has published several papers in this area. Leon has had the opportunity to work for Research In Motion and Nokia Location and Commerce as an intern.
